In Fallout 76, you can find abandoned BoS camps all over the world, but if you really want to join the group, then you will need to start their questline at the right place.
Here comes your first target: Abbie's Bunker, it is a hidden shelter on the North side of The Mire. Please be warned that the Mire is no walk in this park, and if you want to be able to hold off the threats of the swamp, you'd better be about level 20.
Hack the terminal (to be exact, which shouldn't require any Hacking perks to open) so that you might enter the bunker. Once you get inside, search for Abbie's personal terminal in her room (please notice do not get confused with the other Free States terminals) to find information about Fort Defiance, then beginning the quest named Defiance Has Fallen.
If you still have not found the location so far, which means you might have to explore Camp Venture on the South side of the Mire to get more information firstly. Unlike Abbie's Bunker, expected it to be guarded by Scorched, and to have access to the camp's secrets will not be so easy to get to.
Except to those who have the code, access to the command center is strongly prohibited, and what's more, the code locates in basement storage of the V.E.S.T. building on the lower side of the camp. In order to get inside, find locate the quartermaster's key in the bunkhouse lockers, which will need to be lockpicked in Fallout 76 game.
Once with the key in your hand, then go to the secure storage basement below the VEST building on the lower end of the camp to find the command center password in a note next to a radio, and among some other supplies in this game.
Once you have the password, you will have the access to enter the command center, which boasts many Fallout 76 supplies, however, what you need the most item is the letter to Tommy inside to get your next objective - The Fort Defiance location.
Now you can go and explore Fort Swfiance, a former mental institution which locates on the edge of Cranberry Bog and the Savage Divide. This area is under semi-permanent siege by Scorched, but you can bypass them.
This fort's entrance lies on the left, but you will need to power and then explore the hospitals top floors to power the gate into this fort. But please watch out the high-level enemies that can guard the upper floors as you follow the power lines to a circuit breaker, then drop down the floors to the main level quickly.
Make sure to read the notes which pinned to the board as you enter, which will complete the Defiance Has Fallen quest and start you on your next quest, named: Recruitment Blues.
In Fallout 76, at the end of the fort side of the hospital is another roadblock, which is a shielded elevator and a terminal that requires your credentials, and for the terminal, it only accepts valid military number IDs (Identifications). So here comes another question, how will you ever get one?
Look round the sleeping areas for Squire Evelyn’s Journal, on page 16, to find your answer. To enlist, you need a valid military ID (Identification), and the good news is, in Appalachia, there's an automated boot camp which is still active now.
In this game, head to Camp McClintock on the southeast side of the Forest and then enlist in basic training with the master name Sargent over there, beginning the side quest named Back to Basic and then finish all the courses to get your Soldier's certificate. But please hold on, that is not enough for the Brotherhood, you still need an official military ID (Identification), and the only place that you can do that is the DMV.
Go to the Charleston Capitol Building and then search for the DMV wing to find it still in business thanks to some very boring robots. In Fallout 76, there is no way around this, so it's going to be very painful. You will need to use the terminal in the back to fill out your form, and then you need to print out a waiting ticket and start the automated service to begin calling numbers, be wary, this will trigger Feral Ghouls to attack you frequently.
You will have to slog through massive monotonous paperwork and terminal typing, and also you will be sent to find a postmarked letter in a nearby post box outside, which usually you can find it on the other side of the capitol building.
Meanwhile, you will also need to get a completely different form at the office of the registrar in this game, this place is located in the other broken section of the Capitol building through a tunnel made by a bus.
Last but not least, you will need the approval of the Governor himself, and it means you have to travel through the broken halls of the Capitol Building and then to the Governor's office and find his seal on the table behind the front desk.
Once you have survived this painful journey, and get your pictures taken, and eventually have your official government seal of approval, which means you can go back to Fort Defiance. Use the terminal to officially induct yourself into the Brotherhood of Steel.
Now you can take the elevator to the top floor and then head into your new headquarters, which features a pretty safe space to craft, eat, loot and of course, undertake quests for the Brotherhood. Now you can browse all the notes and terminals to finish the Recruitment Blues quest.
Entering will also grant you some exclusive rewards like an outfit and Fallout 76 weapons, and if you keep completing more of their quests will finally offer you even better rewards, for example; plans for the Fallout 76 Ultracite Power Armor, and some of the best items in Fallout 76 game.
